Lately, we spoke about the new BMW GS with the much awaited liquid cooled boxer engine, the new 1090cc and 1290cc KTM, the Honda Crosstourer and the Yamaha Super Tenere! Then what’s the last bike that is usually in direct competition with all these? Am sure most of you realised it …… sure, it’s the Ducati Multistrada!
All the above adventure bikes does have something in particular that makes them same but unique in some way or another …… the KTM is known to be the leader when it comes to off-road / desert use, the Honda Crosstourer is known to be a more sportier adventure version of the others, the Yamaha Super Tenere is known for being as good off-road as on-road bike and the BMW R1200GS is known to be the leader in this segment for being the most comfortable bike for long trips and with the stamina of an off-road bike! And there comes the Multistrada …. What does this bike has to offer?
The present Multistrada has already penetrated well the adventure market but Ducati feels it needs to be there even 
more, they feel they need to do an even greater impact. Surely, everyone knows the kind of bikes Ducati manufactures nowadays and with this model, especially with the 2013 Ducati Multistrada Adventure Touring Motorcycle, they are making sure that they keep up with their name! But today, they are focusing even more on giving its riders a better 4 in 1 bike, being a Touring bike, an Urban bike, an Enduro bike and, above all, gives that sporty feeling!
Ducati didn’t limit themselves by working and the power and the torque but they’ve also worked hard to add Electronic Suspension settings and Traction Control! They did so by using vacuumed die-cast crankcases to save weight and at the same time increase strength, thought about a more comfortable seat and the use of an oil bath clutch for a more softer feel. They didn’t stop there either ……. to make sure that their bike can be driven by any rider, of any riding skills, they even thought about a rear wheel spin tolerance adjustment! Could the engineers have gone any further? Doubt they can!!!
As most of you know, I’m crazy about BMWs, especially about the GS models, but would love to try this out one day. BMW are surely having some hard time to keep up with this innovations but this will surely give that little bit more push to BMW’s engineers to keep giving us the best bike ever 😛 Joking apart, I strongly believe that all these bikes are great and they all have something unique to offer …. then it all depends on what one is looking for in a bike and the personal make preference!
