Earlier this month I wrote an article comparing the BMW R1200GS and the Yamaha Super Tenere. Today I would like to add another one with them, the KTM 990 Adventure!
These 3 bikes are getting impressive response throughout the world and, even though I love BMW, I think they all deserve it. The BMW has been for long time the bike to last with numerous trips finished successfully around the globe. But the more time passes the more we’re hearing about the new Yamaha Super Tenere and the KTM 990 Adventure. Today, even the Triumph is having its popularity.
In few years from now, which bike will be dominating the market? Will the BMW still hold their leading position?
I own a BMW R1150GS and I’m really pleased with it but, as I’ve said already in some of the posts published earlier, it’s a damn heavy bike. I’ve had the opportunity to drive a 1200GS Adventure one but only for a couple of minutes. Can’t say much apart from it’s the bike of my dreams 🙂 and that I will make sure I’ll have one soon. Buy again, would it be better to have one with an air-cooled engine or with the coming water-cooled one?
Then what? When BMW will change to the water-cooled boxer, would BMW still lead the market or people will shift to some other make, like Yamaha or KTM?
If you own a BMW R1200GS, Yamaha Super Tenere or KTM 990 Adventure, then let us know what you think! Share with us your views, your concerns and your experience with any of the bikes mentioned herewith!
I ride a BMW 1200 GSA but I wouldn’t choose any of them as Ducati are way ahead in the electronics (suspension and engine), so I would choose Ducati Multistrada 1200S
