Our long awaited liquid cooled BMW R1200GS has been officially on the road for this last month! There are a number of BMW and non BMW enthusiasts who believe this will be another success for the German company!
But, like any other completely newly built model one is to expect some flops on this too. In fact, BMW Canada has just issued a recall for all its 31 units sold in the country! There seems to be a potential oil leak, in the output shaft sealing ring, from the transmission arising from high pressure. This could also lead to an accidental crash since the oil will leak just in front of the rear tire! This recall is only for this new model as none of the older models does have the transmission fully integrated into the engine casing.
In order to reduce this oil pressure BMW will now be installing and oil restrictor.
No news about the other models sold worldwide but surely everyone is waiting for this to be done wherever this particular model has been sold!!
