The 2012 BMW biker meeting in Garmisch-Partenkirchen is again round the corner! Am sure there’s a number of you who are looking forward to this event and, most probably, there’s some others like me who are almost sure they’ll visit too but are not yet sure they can make it this year. Yeah …. I should wait a bit more to confirm, right? 🙂
Going through a couple of online booking engines, like booking.com, agoda.com, expedia.com, etc ….. I noted that there’s already a shortage of rooms, thus it’s imperative that everyone that hasn’t yet booked his accommodation for this event, must do so immediately. From all this websites I’ve been through, I only managed to find a coupleof rooms left in Garmisch city center but they’re priced at over €200 a night! Yeah, insane but that’s the situation. 🙂 The next available hotel in Garmisch-Partenkirchen is around 8km outside the center. Others options are then available in nearby cities, with some in the superb Tyrol, Austria area. True, they’re bit out of the way, and around 20+km away but they’re reasonably prices and one can enjoy this area too. I’ve never been to Garmisch so far but been to Tyrol and would surely not mind considering this option.
Other than that, one can check out whether there’s still places available in the campsite just next to the event. It’s surely an alternative and an experience to sleep there. For those who wish to book in these campsites and/or try their luck in finding an accommodation as close as possible to the event area, one can contact the tourist information office or email bmw-motorrad@gapa.de.
