Once In A Lifetime Motorcycle Trip To Morocco

One of my dreams is to eventually make it to Morocco on a motorcycle and this tour I’m sharing with you today is surely the tour to go for! If you have this dream too and/or been there but would like to experience this country again, then you don’t need to look further ….. come with us for this once in a lifetime motorcycle trip to Morocco!

This 14 day tour starts in Malaga, Spain, with the 1st night to be spent at Alhaurin El Grande. We’ll begin our way towards Morocco the following day, with a drive to Tarifa, the ferry port. Once in Morocco, we will pass through Tetouan and stop at Oued-Laou for lunch. Leaving the Mediterranean coast behind us, the itinerary takes us to Jebel-Tisouka and Chefchaouen, where we will spend the night.

We begin our next day with a target to reach Fez. Enroute we will pass along riverbeds and gorges, pass through Ouazzane and even stop for a short visit to Volubilis. Overnight in Fez and then an “off” day to visit this medieval capital of Morocco and spend the rest of the day relaxing and/or enjoying a traditional hammam!

Some spectacular scenaries awaits us on this next day! Our route takes us through the Middle Atlas, Ifran, Morocco’s ski resort, Cedre forest, High Atlas, Gorge do Ziz, an African Grand Canyon, and Er-Rachidia, where we will stop for the night. Er-Rachidia is surely well known, especially with those who used to follow the Dakar race, when it was still the Paris – Dakar route, since it’s an ex-Dakar staging post.

On our next day, we head towards Merzouga, passing through Ziz Valley. Once in Merzouga, we take a break from our bikes and enjoy an amazing 4×4 excursion in the Sahara Desert! The landscape, the dunes and the remote Bedouin and Berber nomad villages will surely be a lifetime momorable experience. To fnish off this day, we end up relaxing by the pool, in front of the dunes, and enjoying the desert sky!!

To make sure we are fit enough to go through one of the longest days of our trip, from Merzouga to Ouarzazate, we will spend an extra day relaxing in the Merzouga desert; taking it easy by the pool, exploring the dunes on foot, etc …. In the evening, we will go out on a camel ride and enjoy the sunset. Refreshed after such a relaxing day, we then head towards Ouarzazate, passing through Alnif, Todra Gorge, the Vallet du Dades and the Rose Valley.

We’ll being our next day with a free morning to explore the city before heading to Marrakech. Enroute, we will again enjoy some incredible scenery, with the main point being the mighty Tizi-nTichka. We finish our day with a belly-dancing, a very famous attraction in most of the arab countries! Next day would be a day off to visit Cosmopolitan Marrakech, where one will also have the opportunity to buy almost anything! For sure, this will be THE day for all women joining us on this incredible tour 🙂

Our next destination will be Essaouira, heading towards the Atlantic ocean and passing through some small Moroccan towns. Once in Essaouira, we will enjoy some delicious fresh seafood and spend the rest of the between the white beaches and the ancient Medina. The last full day in Morrocco will be spent riding along the Atlantic coast, enjoyings some beautiful scenery of sand formations and dunes, fishing villages, lagoons and rock cliffs. Our day ends in Rabat, the capital of Morocco! This will be our last night of our tour in this amazing continent.

The next morning, we will drive to Tangier, from where we will again catch the ferry back to Spain, drive along the Mediterranean coast and head to Alhourin El Grande. Time to relax before meeting again for the last dinner together!

During this tour we will be driving a total of approx 2500km and, as one can see, it includes bit of everything, be it sea, mountains, desert, dunes, villages, history, etc …… It’s a must-do once in a lifetime experience!!! You won’t regret it!
