With just 13 days to go to the INTERMOT Motorcycle show in Cologne, rumors are being heard on some of the new models for 2015! Without exception, we’re waiting to hear more definite news on the long heard new Sport Trail of BMW, the S1000F or the S1000XR. This has been long talked about and “Cycle World” even published some photos of it / what it could be!
What seems to be mostly expected is that this model will be based on the roadster S1000R, a compact 4 cylinder in line with chassis inspired but the Japanese!! This new BMW should compete with the other Sport Trails like the Ducati Multistrada, the Kawasaki Versys or the still to be launched MV Agusta Turismo Veloce!! Looking at the photos the front does look like that of the Multistrada!
Just like the other Trails, this model features the famous beak, which became as standard on practically all Trail / Dual Sport bikes in this category …….. with the exception of KTM! None of the KTM big adventure models do come with one as standard, even though the shape does resemble that of a beak! Having said that, not even this one looks like it’s something extra, it’s more a matter of design that is making it look like a beak!
It is being assumed that this model will enjoy the usual features like ABS, traction control and maybe also enjoy that 4 cylinder 150bhp, as compared to the 160bhp on the roadster and the 193bhp on the sport bikes.
As extras we’re predicting there will surely be the usual top box and panniers, GPS / GPS support, heated grips and maybe some electronically controlled suspension settings! This is just an idea of what might be available, guess there will be much more options to choose from!
Let’s wait until INTERMOT opens it’s door, then we should have the final details and hopefully the final version of this new BMW model! Will it take the importance as the other BMW Enduro models took? Let’s see!!
