Final Details On The New 2013 1190 KTM Adventure

KTM was due to launch their new 1190, intended to compete directly with BMW’s R1200GS, on the 2nd of October at INTERMOT in Cologne. However, it seems like there was a leak of photos and details, from KTM themselves ….. and we are here to share these with you too! 🙂

As expected, its engine will deliver more bhp then its predecessor, the 990 Adventure, making it 150bhp and is based on the V-Twin RC8 engine of the superbike. What’s also interesting is that it seems like they’ve managed to keep it wet weight to 235kg! Features like traction control, switchable engine mapping, seat adjustment, etc …. are available too, some as standard and some as optional. BUT what are the first comments from the general public?

There has been some mixed reactions about this, with the majority pointing out that KTM are loosing track on what was the main use of a KTM …… off road! This seems to go closer to what bikers looks for when buying a BMW R1200GS, that is an enduro style bike primarily used for long trips but with the possibility of riding on some nice secondary roads too!

Well, based on what is being said, KTM will also be launching a 1090cc model so who knows if this will satisfy those bikers who still aim to use this bike for off road use!!! What I trust is that these new bikes will keep KTM the place they’ve managed to have in these years in the enduro market!

Good luck to whoever buys any of these new machines ….. and look forward to have your comments too!
