Improve Road Safety For Motorcycles

Intermot has just opened the doors today but we’ve already heard a number of news ahead of it’s opening! One of which, which in my opinion is as well one of the best news we could have ever heard is the joint venture the ACEM, the Association of European Manufacturers of Motorcycles, and the manufacturers of motorcycles & scooters are doing together, alongside with some input from a number of motorcyclists themselves. They are working on new strategies to improve road safety for motorcycles / motorcyclists in Europe!!

The aim is that by 2020 there will be a number of measures in place to protect even more 2 wheeled drivers by introducing what is called as the ITS, Intelligent Transportation System! In few words this new security system will somehow allow communication between vehicles with the help of some new electronic devices installed especially on motorcycles! Another idea is to have the so-called “eCall system” that will automatically make emergency calls as soon as an accident occurs.

Apart from the technological aspects, the manufacturers are also relying on a number of bikers to help them with this in order to have a more clearer picture about what bikers experience on the roads every single day! The CMEA and the Council of German Road Safety are also working on promoting some biker training programs, across the European Union, in order to create more awareness and to try to lesson more and more any avoidable accidents, which could somehow be avoided should the biker is trained more!
