BMW Motorrad is once again celebrating its existence with us! 2010 marked the 30 year existence of the GS but today we’re seeing another anniversary celebration ….. 90 years existence of the BMW Motorrad! Yes, in 2013 BMW will be celebrating its 90th birthday from the day it began manufacturing Motorcycles! And what will this mean?
BMW are putting on sale, just for 2013, 3 special anniversary models, an R 1200 GS Adventure, still with the famous air-cooled boxer engine, an R 1200 RT and an R 1200 R Adventure. This might also be the last time we will see this engine on these bikes since a number of tests are being performed as to soon put the liquid-cooled engine on these too!
The 3 special models all feature a black matt engine, a special 90 Jahre model inscription, an extensive fittings and 
individually tailored accessories meeting the consistently high standards of BMW Motorrad, fixed fork tubes and brake calipers at front and rear anodized in gold, a swingarm and footrest base plates in Asphalt grey metallic matt, a paralever strut anodized in black and an exclusive nickel-plated and polished brass plate instead of the BMW logo on the upper fork bridge.
Apart from that, the BMW R 1200 GS Adventure also comes with a sapphire black metallic for the upper front fender and tank cover paint finish, an aluminum knee cover anodized in Olive grey, a granite grey metallic matt cylinder head covers and a Luxor olive grey / Seta black seat.
The BMW R 1200 R Adventure features a front fender, fuel tank and rear trim finished in Sapphire black metallic and a Granite grey metallic matt wheels, cylinder head covers, fork bridge and front axle bearings.
The last model for this anniversary is the BMW R 1200 RT, featuring as well a front fender cover, central fuel tank section, side trim at front and rear, rear trim panels, radio cover, mirror housings and case lids finished in Sapphire black metallic, an engine spoiler in Ostra grey metallic, a luggage carrier and handles, tank rail, cockpit frame and tank lid finished in Magnesium metallic matt, a handlebar halves and upper fork bridge in Magnesium metallic matt and Granite grey metallic matt wheels, cylinder head covers and front axle bearings. Not to forget is the engine that come in black matt distinct from gearbox housing.
